Summer of 2005

Hmmm, I wonder if Jeeps are edible...

Checking out the picnic area....

When she saw she was being photographed, she offered her better profile....

The piece of tin I put on the stump to keep the squirrels from getting the food I put out for the birds didn't impress the bear.....

She was sleeping in the old tire that's on the ground behind her but I couldn't get that picture.....

Checking out the new extension to my smithy.....

Just passing through, no need for anyone to panic....

She smells the bread I put on top the electrical box for the tree squirrels....

Then she remembers that she can climb and that she doesn't care if the tree squirrels get fed or not.....

Maybe if I sneak around the Jeep I can avoid that guy with the camera....DOH! Darned paparazzi!

Here, she prepares to do a "nose stand". Unfortunately, I missed that picture so you'll just have to take my word for it....

Jus' chillin' ....

Checking the hillside for slow squirrels....

Try not to sneak up on a bear (it's remarkably easy to do). This posture says she's a little scared and therefore dangerous. She relaxed when she realized it was just little ol' me .....

Passing through my shop area she pauses to check out the old office chair. Note the ripped up seat where she tried to decide if foam rubber was edible on her last visit...

It's interesting to see how all the squirrels, chipmunks, and rabbits vacate the area around the wood pile when she starts poking her nose in there...

The skwirls sounded the 'serious alarm' sound so I went outside to check. The black female was there, but a few seconds later this cinnamon cub (a male, I think) comes walking up and stares at me from the woods....

Just seconds after the cub showed up his momma put in an appearance too (a high traffic day!). Much to my surprise they seemed to get along fairly well and didn't really behave like the big hairy animals that they are...

Mid-July this young one decided to come back and check me out...

Just finished raiding the bird's food...

I'm not sure what's up there but I am sure that I want to eat it...

Two showed up today while I was grilling pork chops...

One laid down to wait to see if any of those pork chops might come his way...Fat chance!

Beginning to get fat for winter...

Walking across the cabin's porch...

Are you talking to me? You're not talking to ME....
