Gaucho's Knife

The gauchos use these knives for every conceivable kind of duty. This particular one was ordered by someone in a South American country who wanted something different to use in his kitchen.

This knife has a 10" blade of differentially hardened 1095 with a hamon and a 4" false edge. The ferrule is wrought iron from an old wagon wheel and the handle is turquoise and giraffe bone. The odd sheath follows a traditional pattern and would be carried inside the waist band (although this one will probably never be carried any further than from the churrasqueira to the kitchen)....
